Born in England in 1944 Gerald has had an affinity with timber and trees for most of his life. Apprenticed to Unilever in 1959 Gerald worked with the Cooper, Wheelwright, Pattern-maker, Wood-turner, French polisher, Carpenter, Joiner, Cabinetmaker and Draughtsmen in their building department.

In 1965 adventure called and a move to Australia took place through a government subsidised migration scheme. Always relying on his woodworking skills Gerald travelled extensively within Australia as a builder and fine furniture maker.

In 1980 a final destination was reached at the small rainforest village of Daintree. Here Gerald established and managed his own woodwork gallery and museum for 27 years before building Cloud 9 almost single-handed between 1996 and 2000.

Cloud 9 guests are invited to view and perhaps purchase from the small range of work displayed in the main lounge or from the more extensive selection in Gerald's workshop and online.

Commissions are frequently accepted subject to raw material availability.
